Rippa Rugby with Counties Manukau

This week the United Pumas were lucky enough to learn how to play Rippa Rugby.  They were coached by T-Rex from Counties Manukau.  Everyone gave it a go and tried their best.  We discussed the rules when we went back to class because some people still needed a little bit of help in understanding the game.  We also tried to relate playing Rippa Rugby with our school P.R.I.D.E values.

Kia ora students and whanau

Kia ora students and whānau!
Welcome to the Room 17 blog or as I have been told the United Pumas!  My name is Suzanne Tupe and I am the class teacher. I am very excited to be a part of Rowandale School.  I look forward to having a great journey with you all in 2017.

My whanau is from Taranaki and Matangirau but if someone asks me where I am from, I always say Manurewa.  This is where I was raised and where I am proud to be from.  I have one son named Halen who is 21.  He went to Alfriston College and is now a scaffolder in Taranaki.

I went to Clendon Park Primary, Manurewa Intermediate and then James Cook High School.  My teachers had a great effect on me.  I hope to inspire your child to believe they can be anything they want to be if they work hard!  That is the culture that I nurture and develop in the children I teach, this is my strength.  Dream the dream, nothing is impossible.  It is all about your mind-set and work ethic.  I want to build my students up to have that self-belief.

My super passion is in the area of Maths and I am an avid reader.  I would love for your child to embrace all I have to give in all learning areas.  Being present at school everyday is key to this success.  If you miss a day of learning, you can never get it back.  Building this routine helps set a solid foundation in your child's learning.  My goal is to educate young minds, to turn children from passive learners to active learners.   Teaching is my passion and seeing all children succeed in their learning is what teaching is all about for me.

Whānau, please know that you are always welcome to visit in Room 17.  If you have any questions or would like to catch up with me about anything, you can come and see me between 8.00-8.45am or at the end of the school day, pop me an email, or call the office to make an appointment.  I very much look forward to getting to know you, as well as your child.

Here’s to a great 2017!

Kind regards
